“First of all, Booth, you’re an idiot.”

You gathered the files you had scattered on the table, rushing to catch the victim’s wife before she got on a flight to her home country. The agent watched you, used to your insults and witty comments.

“Me thinks doth lady protest too much.”

You just gave him a half-hearted glare.

“Well, me thinks doth lady protesteth just enough.”

You shot him a slight smirk before turning to the other four.

“You guys are doing great. Bren, try to identify what weapon was used. Hodgins, you do your best to find the exact poison that the guy ingested. Oh, and Zack, do you care to go next door and get me a coffee?”

You dug a few dollar bills from your pocket, tossing them to him. He caught them before they smacked him in the face, watching as you started to leave.

“Wait, what kind do you want?”

You didn’t even turn to look at them, heels of your (f/c) boots clicking against the tiled floor.

“Surprise me!”

With that, you turned the corner and went out of sight. The other three simply looked at Zack, watching as he stared at the money. He looked up at Angela, looking completely lost.

“What am I supposed to do?”

The woman just smiled, grabbing the files you left for them.

“Exactly what she said. Surprise her.”

You sighed as you forcefully sat in your comfortable chair at your desk. You ran a hand through your (h/c) hair, trying to flatten any loose strands. The victim’s wife was a bust. She told you everything you already knew, and she left before you could even ask her all of your questions. This case was just a disaster. Everything was scattered, and you were forced to go with whatever “feeling” you got. Right. Like Brennan, you hated going with your feelings. You rubbed your eyes in frustration, jumping a bit as you heard a knock on your office door. You looked up to see Zack waving at you from the glass, and you smiled. That was always a signal for them to enter. He did just that, handing you your coffee and your change. You took the cup, waving a hand to say he could keep whatever money was left. You really owed it to him. You swirled around the coffee, not even bothering to look what he had gotten you. Booth always said you were a “coffeeholic”, but who was he to judge how much of the delicious drink you consumed on a daily basis? You slowly sipped the warm substance, Zack watching nervously. He was terrified you wouldn’t like it. You slowly pulled the cup from your lips, leaning back in your chair.

“Oh, that is heaven… I don’t know how you do it, love.”

You smiled warmly as Zack let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. You just set the cup on your desk, grabbing his hand and placing a kiss to his knuckles.

“Thank you. What would I do without you, Zack?”

He just shrugged, getting technical in that cute way he always did.

“You’d probably yell at Booth to get it for you instead.”

You just laughed, nodding a bit. It was true, after all.

You sighed in frustration, taking a drink from your nearly empty coffee. The lab was practically empty. Hell, the whole building nearly was. Except for you. You had agreed to stay over and try to fit together this shattered skull, but it was hopeless. There were so many fragments missing, and you were exhausted from taking pieces off and starting the puzzle all over again. You placed the pieces in your hands back on the tray, sliding it away from you. It was late, and you had had a tiring day as is. You folded your arms on the cold wood of your desk, resting your head in them. You would just close your eyes for a minute before you tried to finish your work. You knew it wouldn’t end that way, though, as you let your mind shut down. A little nap at work is good for everyone, right?

Zack finished locking the doors of the offices. It was his turn to finish locking up, having made a deal with Hodgins that he would for the entire week. He grabbed the key to your office, ready to lock the door when he saw your lamp was still on. He peeked in the window to see you fast asleep at your desk, the unfinished skull setting in front of you. He smiled a bit, contemplating on if he should wake you or not. You had a rough day. But, he couldn’t just leave you there. He opened the door slowly, hoping it would stay silent, before he walked over to you. Your (s/c) skin seemed to glow in the dim room. You looked so peaceful. He couldn’t just wake you up. That would just be rude. He decided to do the best he could, slowly pulling your chair back a bit. You slightly shifted in the seat, giving a small hum. Zack took a second to let you fall still again before he slowly picked you up. Your hands clutched the first things they found, which happened to be his shirt. You nuzzled into him, giving another small hum. Your (h/c) hair brushed his hands as a few strands fell from your face. It was so soft. He slowly started to take you to the break room, nudging open the door with his foot. Good thing he always locked it last. He slowly and carefully set you on the couch, peeling away your fingers from his shirt. You gave what sounded like a small whine before cuddling into the couch. Zack just smiled. You were adorable. He left you to sleep before returning to your office, looking at what you had finished on the skull.

*~~*

Your eyes slowly fluttered open, (e/c) irises cloudy with sleep. You turned to lie on your back, gathering your surroundings. When did you fall asleep in the break room? You gave a light yawn, blinking rapidly to wake yourself up. Once you had, you sat up to stretch. Your back popped in several places, making you smile in relief. It felt nice after sleeping on the not-so-comfortable couch. You noticed something on the table. A cup of coffee, a note, and the skull that you hadn’t finished. Well, it was finished now. You picked up the coffee and took a sip, sighing in pleasure. Gingerbread. Your favorite. You picked up the note and looked it over, noticing Zack’s neat handwriting.

You fell asleep in your office, so I did the best I could. Hope the coffee is okay.
-Zack

A smile curled at your lips, your heart fluttering. Could he get any more amazing? You placed the note in your jean’s pocket and grabbed your coffee, balancing the skull on one hand. You nudged the door open with your shoulder, dropping off the skull in Bone’s office. She must be out with Booth or something. You nodded to Hodgins and Angela on your way to the lab, lightly knocking on the glass. Zack looked up and smiled a bit at you, watching as you opened the door. You walked over to him, eyes falling to the decaying body on the table. The perfect thing to wake up to was the smell of a rotting corpse.

“It’s amazing, by the way. How’d you know?”

Zack looked over to see you were talking about the coffee, the cup to your lips. He watched you drink it, licking your lips after.

“I just wanted to surprise you, like you said. It was a lucky guess, really.”

You just giggled a bit, walking closer to him. You placed your free hand on his cheek, getting on your tiptoes to place a sweet kiss to his lips. You certainly surprised him. You lingered for a second before pulling away, falling flat on your feet. You just smiled, reaching up to ruffle his hair.

“Thanks, Zack. What would I do without you?”

You took his hand before he could answer, kissing his knuckles as you always did before you left. As much as you wanted to spend the day with him, you had rotting corpses to examine.
I was watching Bones and I love Zack and why am I even writing about this show, considering I haven't even seen half of season one, I mean- //shot
